CS 449 - Week 7

Writer: William WangWilliam Wang

During Week 7, we made significant progress in our project and focused on refining our paper prototype for evaluation. Here's a summary of what we accomplished:

- We conducted a thorough review of the screens we created in our previous studio lab (P7) and identified common components that could be reused across screens to enhance interactivity and efficiency.

- The paper prototype was further optimized by consolidating similar-looking wireframes, making it more user-friendly and reducing clutter.

- To ensure a smooth evaluation process, we added interactive elements like drag-and-drop functionality for ranking connection preferences.

- We also improved the sign-up process by offering options to sign in with both LinkedIn and Google accounts, catering to users with different preferences.

- We considered the calendar service and recognized the value of providing place recommendations for in-person meetings to save users' time and help them choose suitable locations.

For the evaluation phase, we developed a comprehensive test plan to assess specific tasks related to onboarding, user matching, and scheduling meetings. The facilitator, wizard, and participants were assigned specific roles and tasks to be carried out during the evaluation.

During our mock evaluation, we gained valuable insights from our testers, which helped us refine some aspects of the application. For example, we realized that not all users preferred using LinkedIn for sign-up, and some may have privacy concerns. As a result, we decided to offer multiple sign-in options, such as Google, to cater to different user preferences.

Overall, Week 7 was productive, and we made significant strides in refining our paper prototype and preparing for evaluation. The feedback from our testers was invaluable in identifying areas for improvement and guiding our design decisions moving forward.
