CS 449 - Week 12

In Week 12, we focused on conducting a Heuristic Evaluation and Cognitive Walkthrough to identify areas of improvement in our app's design and functionality. Here are the key highlights:

1. Heuristic Evaluation: We evaluated our app based on five important heuristics, including system status visibility, consistency and standards, flexibility and efficiency of use, aesthetic and minimalist design, and help and documentation. The feedback was both positive and constructive, providing valuable insights into the strengths and weaknesses of our design.

2. Design Improvements: Based on the evaluation feedback, we made several design improvements to enhance the user experience. These changes include adding missing back buttons for the professional onboarding section, allowing users to choose their own location when scheduling in-person meetings, and not preselecting options in the prototype for scheduling meetings. Additionally, we improved the interface to automatically show mentors or mentees when users access the messaging interface.

3. Cognitive Walkthrough: During the Cognitive Walkthrough, we observed users completing various tasks successfully. However, we also identified opportunities to streamline certain processes and optimize the profile examination and meeting scheduling flows.

Overall, Week 12 was productive, with each team member contributing to the evaluation process and making necessary design adjustments. We are confident that these improvements will enhance the app's usability and deliver a better user experience to our potential users.

As a team, we are now ready to move forward with these changes and continue refining the app based on user feedback and iterative design principles to create a top-notch platform for mentorship connections.
