During Week 4, our team received positive feedback from the TA about our work, which was detailed and well-done. We had successfully conducted user interviews and created artifacts such as an affinity diagram and flow models to analyze the insights gathered.
In the affinity diagram, we identified several key themes from the interviews, including the desire to learn useful skills for better job opportunities, building meaningful relationships, and improving effective communication. The flow models helped us understand the interactions between students and professionals in the mentorship process.
In the user interviews, we discovered that there is a larger pool of potential mentors than we initially assumed. Professionals are passionate about mentoring and are always looking to help younger individuals grow in their careers. We also learned that soft skills play a crucial role in connecting with mentors, and mentorship can bridge the gap between experienced professionals and aspiring individuals, facilitating knowledge transfer.
In our team-building exercise, we expressed our enthusiasm for CS449, as it allowed us to learn valuable skills like UX design and collaboration in a group setting. We look forward to creating a solution that will help students and professionals better connect and facilitate knowledge sharing.
Furthermore, we brainstormed features for our application, focusing on matching mentors and mentees based on common interests and goals, ensuring that mentees genuinely want mentorship, providing team-building activities, and incorporating a social messaging feature for effective communication.
Overall, our assumptions and hypotheses about the target users have evolved based on the insights from the interviews. We now understand that there is a strong demand for mentorship among young individuals, and soft skills play a significant role in forming meaningful connections with mentors. Our new hypotheses suggest that mentorship can be a powerful tool for knowledge transfer and that there is a larger pool of potential mentors than previously thought.
Throughout Week 4, the team worked collaboratively to conduct interviews, create artifacts, and brainstorm features for our application. Each member contributed to different aspects of the project, and we are excited to continue building on these insights to develop a successful solution.
