CS 449 - Week 10

Writer: William WangWilliam Wang

In Week 10, we had a successful Design Critique Session #2, where we received valuable feedback on our prototype designs from peers. We addressed several areas of improvement, such as refining the onboarding flow, making the next button more obvious, and clarifying the process of selecting multiple options for goals and interests.

Based on the feedback received, we worked diligently to refine our high-fidelity prototype (P11). We made the onboarding flow more interactive, allowing users to drag and rearrange items for ranking. Additionally, we added headers and a back button to improve navigation and made required fields more obvious.

We also introduced a new user verification flow, allowing users to verify their student or working professional identity using their university or work email. This enhancement will help ensure the authenticity of user profiles.

Further, we improved the calendar interface by adding a reschedule button for meetings, making it easier for users to modify their scheduled appointments.

To enhance the messaging interface, we introduced tabs for switching between private and group chats, making navigation clearer for users. We also included meeting shortcuts for easy access during conversations.

During the prototype evaluation with a student user, we received positive feedback on the starting screen and the "Login with LinkedIn" option. However, some improvements were suggested, such as adding a back button and page numbers during onboarding and clarifying the purpose of the "Communities" feature.

Reflecting on our team practices (T6.1), we found that clear and open communication was crucial to our success. We also recognized the importance of regular team meetings to stay organized and focused.

Challenges in coordinating tasks and finishing work last minute were identified (T6.2), leading us to consider adjusting our meeting day and improving individual task allocation.

If we were to restart the term (T6.3), we would move team meetings to an earlier day and ensure individual tasks are completed before group meetings to improve efficiency.

Overall, Week 10 was a productive and reflective week for our team. We are excited to incorporate the feedback received and continue refining our prototype as we approach the final stages of development.
